Tehran is ready to resume nuclear discussions with Washington provided that it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

The Iranian diplomat declared solely negotiations produced results, and disclosed fresh requests had come from intermediaries to resume discussions with the US government. The prior phases of negotiations between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious end on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that ended with the US president claiming the sites had been obliterated. Afterward, European countries employed their privilege to restore global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Tehran representatives stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have persisted and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been agreed in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could work within Iranian territory, but that was a natural consequence of the cooperative offer. In his speech to the gathering, aimed to paint the US as a controlling nation that abuses the concept of worldwide standards, Araghchi declared the two-week conflict demonstrated the dispute could not be resolved by military means. In what is portrayed by Iran's diplomats as the battle of recovery and rebuilding, the foreign minister stated he was certain Iran's defence capabilities "are considerably enhanced than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We gained numerous insights from this conflict; we have identified our internal vulnerabilities and the weaknesses of the enemy."

He added: "We effectively endured this conflict. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to obliterate, stays intact. The installations and gear, if destroyed, will be restored; what is important is the determination of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but failed to break. The Iranian people have grown more powerful, more united, and more endorsing of the government and the country in the face of this invasion."
